Saturday, July 16, 2011 – 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
A day-long adventure through the landscape that, until 1868, was part of Santa Cruz County. We will explore Pigeon Point (and its Azorean whaling station), Pebble Beach, Pescadero lagoon and marsh. You'll learn how to pronounce "Butano" like the locals do. The day will conclude in Pescadero, so you might want to plan to have a no-host dinner at Duarte's.
Fee: $60 if registered before June 1; $75 after June 1.
Note: Because of the subject matter, children under 18 may not participate in the course.
Degree of difficulty: Moderate – there will be some short hikes including some up and down stairs and bluffs.
Transportation: Private vehicles. We will arrange the itinerary so that those wishing to remain for dinner in Pescadero may do so.
Meeting Place: To be announced, but we have built in the approximate one hour travel time to the point of beginning, so you don't have to get up TOO early.
What you should bring:
• Layered clothing
• Comfortable walking shoes.
• Picnic lunch
